Are there any safety concerns with this being in the middle of my hallway? It has no cover and I'm not sure whether to be worried about it just openly sitting here333.jpg 333.jpg like this

Personally I don't like cables not fixed to wall and perhaps within child's reach (?). So it could be tidied up a bit or as @Murdoch has said, perhaps a bit of carpentry :)
 
back in the early 70's i had similar, but with rewireble fuses in the wylex CU. took all the guts out of an old KB television and used the cabinet. screwed to the wall. it even had a sliding door, like a rolltop desk, but sideways.
