Hi there. I have a Daikin EKHBRD016ACV1 heat pump at home.
This year I noticed that as soon as the power goes out (we have a standby generator; so the power comes back in 1 minute), Daikin's remote starts flashing 0:00. I contacted its repairmen and they said this model does not have a battery; instead when some capacitor empties out, it loses its time.
This causes lots of problems with scheduling the heater, since if the power goes out in the night ; I won't notice it until the next day and set its time.
Frankly I'm getting pretty fed up settings its time.

Any ideas what to do? Many thanks, -turgut

Have / can you contact Daikin REP to help? I have worked a lot Overseas and most places have some sort of Rep in the area, I'm sure if you checked out their website, you may find some local help, good luck sorry I can't help in any other way as I have had no experience with your Mode of Heat Pump, please if you get any help, you could let the Forum know.

th
no joy try this .

This is not uncommon where a limited back-up time is required a capacitor is used which stores sufficient energy to keep the settings for a few hours usually. It's a cheaper way of doing it than having a battery. Problem is capacitors deteriorate and often 'dry out' over the years and no longer hold a charge.

The only way to fix it is to identify the capacitor on the control board and replace it. The other option is to replace the entire control board which is probably what the agents will insist on. Either way it's not a repair that's within the realms of DIY I'm afraid. You'd need to find somewhere that do reworking of PCB's.
