as title. what's all this data protection rubbish thsat's coming in in May?

I have had numerous calls and emails asking me to consent to something or other to do with these data protection changes. I have just said nope... nope and no. Figure if its something worthwhile they will write to me.

As far as I understand it, this only applies IF you have a website that "makes" people submit information.........................

It also applies if you gather data and potentially share it. For example, say you supplied a product to your customer which subsequently developed a fault, you then swapped it out and returned faulty unit to the manufacturer. If the manufacturer's QC Dept. then wanted to contact your customer to understand precise fault conditions, your customer would have to give you explicit permission to share their details with another party, prior to you sharing them with the manufacturer/distributor.

It applies to everyone that collects data, whether shared or not. So it applies to all you lot as no doubt you collect names and addresses at a minimum. GDPR has been my baby at the school since returning, I’m very well versed in it, and if anyone needs any advice just drop me a message. One thing though, it’s not a load of -------s - I appreciate why it seems that way, but it is long overdue. Just look at the recent news about FB, that should highlight the need for this overhaul.
