Hi
We need some advice on the following.......

A potential new client has a hefty SWA cable across his field supplying five 6A caravan hook ups. Ideally he would like us to extend it over to his barn (20M) for a 4kWp system therefore avoiding having to install a new cable under ground.

I have looked in Photovoltaics in buildings 2nd Ed. which says....

'An inverter supplied from a PV array must preferably be installed in a dedicated circuit which:
no current using equipment i connected, and
no provision is made for the connection of current using equipment, and
no socket outlets are permitted.'

But it says 'preferably' !!!????

So does it need to be a dedicated circuit or not? Not very clear wording!
Anyone used a non dedicated circuit before?

You can still have a dedicated circuit for the pv provided you have a local mcb. Even though the distribution circuit across the field is shared, the inverter itself would be on a dedicated circuit. There is a relevant phrase in MIS3002 also that makes sharing the circuit across the field arguably outside MCS rules. However MIS3002 goes beyond 7671 requirements for no obvious good reason.
Regards
Bruce
