If the cables are chased more than 50mm into wall what is the requirements for rcd protection?

Have missplaced the big red so can't check just now.

It is not possible for me to rcd protect new cables in extension without ripping up rest of the house. It is feed from an old 3036 rewireable board.

Cables at a depth less than 50mm require RCD protection.
So your chase is going to have to be deeper, probably 60mm.
Or you could use some galv condit as mechanical protection.

I think the building regs state depths of 3rd of the thickness of the wall for vertical chases and 6th for horizontal chases so gonna have to be quite thick walls to get away with it

Just RCD protect the cables of the circuit that you are working on at the CU

unless he finds underfloor/in wall IR faults, shared neutrals, lack of bonding etc.
