Hi all,

Does anyone have experience with working on this model ?
Had a job today to inspect one that wasn’t heating up. Ive worked on hundreds of storage heaters over last few years and never had problem fault finding and repairing, but this one got the better of me today ! Never worked on this model before.
Did all the usual checks, and found that there was no continuity going through the Off peak section of heater, normally this points towards the thermal cut out that needs resetting, but was unable to locate one anywhere on this heater ? Do any of you know where I find it on this model ?
Only had about half hour to look at this job right at the end of the day so didn’t go into major detail, but more than likely will have to return in near future.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi,did you get to check continuity through the cut-out/thermostat and elements?
A quick check on a generic wiring diagram of the models with peak/boost,shows 5 separate stats and cut-outs,plus a PCB board...you may need to spend a bit of time tracking this one.

Quantum’s have an extended guarantee if registered with Dimplex. How old is the heater. There’s lots more to go wrong on these compared to the older model storage heaters.

Hello Fellow Electricians, This type of storage heating is no different to the past hot wires, its a heater, however the control is part of the computer world where the nightmares start. Like smart motorways, smart electric meters welcome to software revision changes, machine code algorithms second guessing would you want it to do and there is the cost possibly to be paid in bitcoin soon! God help us.
