Hi, good day. My low pressure sodium lamp and control gear arrived today, I have the wiring diagram but now I'm stuck with the ballast and the capacitor as I have no idea how should I insert wire into these things, looks like I am missing an adaptor or something?

The ballast is Philips BSX 355, do I have to remove the plastic cover? I need to make sure before I destroy something by accident:tounge_smile:

Attached document is the picture of the stuff.

I am no electrician by the way. Any advice will be greatly appreaciated!

The ballasts in light fittings are sometimes push fit and you need a special solid core high temp' rated control wire for it as it is required to stand the heat the ballasts run at, some ballasts do have different termination but the most reliable for a ballast which during operation can vibrate whilst getting very hot is this kind of push fit solution. Do not remove the plastic on the cap' as you will most likely damage it.

I can't help with your wiring question but I am wondering what that item in the backgound is that presumably is supposed to be a BS1363 UK compliant plug (which it isn't).
