Daft place to put a CU in the first place, Kevlar, hard hat and whatever else I might need well and truly in place.

I thought that was 2 galv conduits and thought why would a spark do that?

Now I see it’s the garage door runners. Can’t really put them anywhere else. Why was the CU put in such a silly place:confused:

True, but anyone with an ounce of common sense would arrange for the electrics to be relocated prior to the garage door being installed.

Client just as much at fault.

I've had this exact same problem- the fairly elderly customer rang asking me to move the CU lower down but the only way I can get to it is for the garage door cretins to temporary remove the door automation assembly and refit after the CU resite, the door itself could be left to manually open and close for security as it would be more than a days work for me. But the board is still in the silly place as they quoted her £800 + VAT !!

I recently did a high end refurb and kitchen which included new CU's in the intake cupboard at one end. Nearing completion I arrived one morning to find Kev had fixed a handmade unit and shelf around one of the CU's so that it was impossible to open the top hinged door flap to access the RCBO's.
"I thought you'd finished?" he helpfully suggested when I enquired what the £&ck he was playing at.
I didn't have to tell him he was a muppet....client was on a site visit and told Kev himself.

mind you, nobody is perfect

This is the 3rd CU inside the main house ..

Its all nice and neat ..........well sort of, but turning off the main switch doesn't isolate all the cables inside it ........ the installer has used this CU to terminate SWA from other circuits in the 2 other CU's to it.....................

Its now sporting a big label warning the next person who opens it

Came across this today, whilst fault finding. Fortunately I didn't need to look inside it or isolate any of the circuits ............View attachment 44913

Could get interesting ....
What a crazy electrician, installing a CU behind those pipes!

PS.. I think all trades are the same, it just depends on the person you get. Some electricians will not think about how their work affects other trades and some will, just the same with plumbers, plasterers etc etc.

Of course we're the best though, so that does kind of give us a right to do what we want.
