out of interest whats the cost of living on Jersey? Islands can sometimes be expensive places to live

Very expensive to be fair as if you come over you'll be needing non qualified rentals so think twice the cost of locally qualified people ! I used to work for the OP and my wage was £10 less / hr as an improver but really experienced to be fair. But now I work for myself so all good but trying to get by non qualified on less than double the £17/ hr you'll struggle ! No VAT but we have 5% GST ( Goods & services tax ) or Government Stupidity Tax, and prices generally add up to Vat prices due to costs levied as Risteard said for shipping / flying in most supplies ! Awesome in the summer, miserable in Winter. Risteard is very clued up. ;)

I worked there for nine months. It is reasonably expensive, as obviously everything has to be shipped in. In bad weather not only are flights and ferries cancelled, but the news is too as the newspapers can't get across the English Channel. The exception to this is the Jersey Evening Post.

That said it's a lovely place and I really miss it at times.
Come back anytime buddy !

Damn ..... I forgot all about the champers! :D

I'm finding this thread quite confusing, particularly in relation to the above statement.
I've only recently started out and can say that I have made £700 clear profit over 3 days doing three separate jobs. Total 24 hours, not 40.
If you're prepared to market your skills and work to your abilities then the jobs are out there at considerably better rates than some contract/employed roles are offering.
By my calculations and limited experience I believe the more experienced electricians should be doing this regularly and easily attain £30+ ph.

.....and the blow. You cannot have hookers without any blow, it’s like strawberry’s and cream.

I agree, and would fully expect any hooker I hire to be doing plenty of blowing!
:D
