drill bits

werne t sure if there was already a thread on this, but what are the best drill bits, i go through that many jus wana get sum decent 1s?

do you mean masonry bits, twist drill bits, flat bits, sds or plain shank, for drilling steel, i use quality bits.anything else, cheap and cheerful, don't cause so much aggro when you break em or lose em

evrything, gaffer buys us crap 1s so was wonderin wot r the best brands, looked at bosch multi material 1s but dont wana buy sumet thts rubbish

Blue Irwin for anything wood, dewalt for all things metal, any old carp for masonary/sds.

For site work we use any recognized brand most of them are pretty similar in quality and price and they tend to invariably grow legs and make for the hills long before they wear out or break. More often than not I buy FEW mainly cause they've been around a long time.
In my workshop I have a set of Starrett cobalt aviation drills which I use for critical work, the 1-13mm set is around 700USD.

Dewalt extreme masonry are very hard wearing, the bosch multi material tend to break the tip in concrete blocks, okay for all else.

for masonary it has to be hilti SDS!!!!!!!!!!
Metal i like the dewalt extreme.

Hilti SDS for Masonry. Very expensive outlay but come with warranty meaning they swap them if they break. If they are too much, the DeWalt Extreme 2 are superb.

For wood I use Irwin powerbit fluted augers or the x6 blues.
