Discuss earths between switch and a JB in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

A friend of mine (not me, honest) drilled through the cables supplying his outside lights when he was putting a curtain pole up. They have been plastered into the wall and rather than risk damaging the decoration he wants to just have a cable down the outside wall - which will be very easy to do.

Question - It is a 3 gang switch and at the moment and there are 3 cables to it - a T&E and two switch lives and earths. In stead of running the two single and earth conductors is it ok to replace them with a single T&E so that there are just two cables running down the outside of the wall. I would obviously sleeve it correctly - the only difference i can see would be that there would only two earths between the switch and the JB instead of three. Each cable still has its own earth - Are you breaking any regs doing this?
Hope i have explained it ok, cheers.
