My brother in-law is in the process of building an extension to his house, he is doing the lot, including electrics but he is not formally trained. Whilst I don't have an issue with the correctness of his work, I won't complete a "Single signature Electrical Installation Certificate" to sign his work off, but what about a "Three signature EIC" where he signs the Design and Installation sections. Are my responsibilities under the Testing and Inspecting the same as an EICR or are there any subtle differences. There is nothing in black and white for the Design as it was designed as it was installed, with the nominal testing I have done so far it appears to be ok.

OR

Should I stick with an EICR for the whole house (another can of worms) and be done with it.

Good point. His nickname is 00Bond, way OTT. He has used 3 core and earth for all of the lighting circuits so that he can switch from anywhere. Drawing that out it would probably look like Hampton Court Maze. A piece of A4 won't be big enough.
