EICR or Minor Works???

Just a quick one.. I have been to a job today where the shower isolator switch had burnt out, as it wasn't RCD protected I replaced the switch with a 1 way consumer unit with an RCD.

My question is..do I need to do a full EIC or would a minor works do?

A MWC is a certificate to confirm changes or replacements to existing circuits ...

An EIC covers new circuits ...

Shower isolator had burned out and was faulty.

The existing shower circuit wasn't RCD protected so replaced the shower isolator with a 1 way consumer unit which had an RCD.

I accidentally typed EICR instead of EIC, I'm not trying to certify it with an EICR, just wondering if the above work I did would be an EIC or MWC

I would see it as an alteration to an existing circuit.
Minor Electrical Works Installtion Certificate.
Existing circuit, replacement isolator, new enclosure with new RCD.

So you altered an already existing circuit correct? MNW can I clarify my comment and explain my conclusions, before the keyboard warriors rip me to shreds?
My thoughts are that the OP has replaced the damaged Shower isolator with a 1 way CU incorporating a RCD, he has not wired a new circuit, neither has he changed the CU at least that's how I understand what he has done. Perhaps I have miss read, but I don't think so, awaiting the deluge of abuse.

PS I'm assuming the shower isolator was a wall mounted unit, NOT a ceiling switch.

Hi - the new "one way consumer unit which had an RCD" also had an MCB in it? This means (to me) there are now two circuits where there was one, each with its own earth loop and ADS times to be met.

Going with that analogy Wilko, if and I say if the OP had swapped the shower switch with a RCD / FSU instead of a small CU, would that not be similar, or the same as using a CU, after all, all he is doing is fusing down via the CB and adding a RCD? it's an imponderable I guess, which can/could argued either way, well that's how I tend to see it.
