Looking to get a new van and Axa have quoted me nearly 2k insurance on the Volkswagen Transporter I have had my eye on!!!!!!!

Got a clean licence and have had for over 10 years. Not overly fussed on the compare websites as they never seem able to come close to any of my current insurances. Any suggestions on which companies to try?

My insurance runs out mid Jan so I’ve been doing research my self. You are right comparison sites are rubbish. Tesco said they guarantee to beat any quote but turns out they can’t lol. Best price I got from comparison site was £359.
Admiral / Gladiator who I’m currently with wanted £265, which is better.
I tried direct line they quoted me £240 think they gave me a discount because my step son’s insured with them (£2.5k :( and they were the cheapest!!!)
So I think I’ll be going with direct line.

I would go with direct line as well did my insurance in September and they gave me the best quote.

Or have a look at the Trades Direct thread and the comments made by Dan

Unfortunately mate, it is all to do with your age, how long you have been driving, no claims bonus and so on. The only way it will get better is with time and experience.

Ive been on compare the market finding the cheapest van quote for an r plate escort van to be £1700 fuly comp and 6000 miles per yr for business. I only paid £260 last year whats going on? not being happy with the quote i did some interesting comparisans:

Escort deisel van, social domestic and pleasure fuly comp £590

    2002 civic type r " " £630

    1997 escort cosworth lux " " £602

    why are....... 150 mph cars,highly nickable,£5-14000 value
pretty much the same price to insure as my 75hp 85 mph van?

Anyone got a cheap insurer like my last one? When youve never made a claim in your life it boils my blood a little :mad:, there getting towards the lows of the bankers lol

    Hi Benny,

It appears that all the insurance companies are hiking prices and this is down to their investments not performing as well lately so they are laying it on all of us by charging over the top quotes and hopin that people just lay down and pay!
Best thing ta do is shop around then shop around again, there will be a reasonable quote out there somewhere ( saved myself a load by doing this myself lately :))

    Hi

Just purchased another van for a lad i have working with me so he can start going and doing jobs on his own but having problems insuring him as he is only 22 and i cant use any of my no claims bonus on the van as i have them on the van i use, has anybody come across this problem? i was hoping i could get some sort of business insurance so anybody could drive either van but i dont think this is possible and it seems like it is going to cost a bomb to get him insured on this van.

    Thanks

Yeah I got a company to match my no claims last year on another van, spoke to about 5 who wouldn't then a broker in the end did it for me - stupid system isn't it! Stick with it you'll find someone who will match it with an equivalent discount. Sorry can't remember who it was with, I went with budget this year who were nice and cheap but doubt they'd help much without no claims as they seem pretty useless apart from saving me money

One policy will not be more costly when compared to the other. The difference in prices will generally be caused by various other factors.

    Have you got a misses?
I put mine on my insurance one year. When I went to renew I said take her off as she never drives the van. And they said it would go up without her on the policy.
