Emergency lighting black and white wires

Hello, I feel a bit stupid asking this on site now as the spark looking after me has already mentioned it, but why would an emmergency lighting system have a separate 2-core fire performance cable (black and white cores) pulled in with the FP200? I’m sure it’s called a ‘bell’ or ‘belling’ cable or something like that?

Is there a seperate DC system operating the switch for the lighting or something?

Probably has a central battery system.
Or if it goes to all the lights, then it would be a DALI type system.

This is the cable.

A Dali type system is what I originally thought so maybe that. Both the FP and “belling” (?) cable go to each fitting, yes.

The system probably has a self test function and uses those cables for data.
I think Essex meant Belden, not Belkin.

Each fitting will be addressable and it will a.ow for remote testing of the fittings, as other pointed out, similar to Dali.

I was meant to come back to this thread but forgot.

Almost certain this goes back to a BMS or an automatic testing panel.
