Just been handed by the boss a Honeywell Logic Six intruder panel to replace the existing one at a property that's being renovated, despite only fitting one previously before from scratch. Got a funny feeling that the detectors and cabling will need replacing also as its all done in three cores with just the three terminals at detectors (EOL?). The old panel was a Micromark MM23207.

The only other panel I've fitted was my own which was wired two for power, two for the alarm, and two for the tamper.

Any intruder alarm experts out there? Apparently according to the boss "they're all the same". Somehow I don't think so.

EOL resistors (2) are used on 2 wire zones. 1 is in parallel with the contact and the other is in series in the loop. sometimes you will have a biscuit eol. need to know how it's wired at present before being definite.

Well the detectors are labelled "RED", "BLK", and "YEL" which isn't helpful. They're are two resistors on the PCB board though. The panel end was just wired red and black to +ve and -ve, with the yellow to the zone terminal.

as spoon's post. the logic 6 will not support this type of zone wiring. you need a panel that will accept 2 wire zone circuitry, then add eol devices to suit the panel.

Excellent chaps, thanks for the input. I will be delivering the bad news tomorrow then!

Would I be right in assuming that even if they wanted the wiring to be left as is they'd still have to buy a panel AND the relevant detectors for that specific panel? Or could a panel be bought to match up with the existing detectors?

should be able to do that. it'sd n ot the detectors, it's the zone configuration.
