Hi all,

Just saying hello :)

I'm ex military (16yrs service, booya!), recently completed the TradeSkills4U Domestic Installer course (18th ed).

Live in Dorset (just north of Bournemouth), and already getting useful info from this forum, so thanks!

I'm sure I'll have questions, and I'm sure the helpful lot who frequent these boards will have lots of useful advice.

Darren

Welcome to the asylum mate.

Welcome to the mad house.
come from similar back ground myself albeit did not serve same length of service as yourself.
The military background serves you well in this job, it requires planning, persistence and a willingness to try something different if it isnt working when fault finding. swap the Queens Regs and standing orders for the big blue book (18th) and you are half way there.

Welcome aboard - your avatar is a bit frightening for this bunch so if you like you can use this one.
And thank you for your service to this country, appreciated.

Done hehe :)
Nice - you’ll fit in here! and you’ll be able to look after yourself if you get bullied!
I keep my lunch money in my sock, unfortunately that makes me limp which gets me bullied - life’s hard!

Dorset? So either a Scaley back or donkey whalloper?

Yes welcome Mate enough of the Brylcreem boy humor. Me 280 SU, 9Sigs, UN, UKSF Cyprus

Welcome Darren.

Do you have any electrical, mechanical or maintenance skills to add to the mix or are you staring out ? No problems if just starting (should get plenty of help or opportunities for some experience on here) but you could defiantly get a head start if you come from an engineering/maintenance background.

Hi David,

Just starting out, however I also have experience with networking equipment and cabling :)

I am laboring for an experienced electrician starting next week, to get some much needed real world experience!
