extending down light circuit

I've been asked to add a few led downlights to an existing circuit. There's no access from above as all new wooden floors in bedroom. I usually cut holes in ceiling to get to joists to run cables in and iv got to go through at least 5 joists. Just wondering if there are any less destructive methods anyone uses. I can't think of any other way. Thanks

Stitch -as in thread the cable under the joist, did think of that but wasn't sure if it was 'cheating'. Cheers.

notch cables into underside of joists. protect with 3mm steel protector plates. patch up.
