Hello Guys,

I've done a lot of work for a guy recently who also has a rental flat, which is controlled and maintained via a letting agent. Anyway to cut a long story short, he had a fault with a lighting circuit in the flat, where upon the letting agents electrician was called, the electrician is saying that the fault is down to a faulty old style push button mcb, and that a new fuse board is needed because of this, and replacing the mcb with a working one, would not be legal. I was under the impression that faulty equipment could be replaced without the need to update to the current regs?

All wiring in the flat is fine, it just has old style mcbs. The electrician wants to charge for a new fuse board and although he's charging the going rate, I think he is just fishing for work.

Swapping a faulty mcb for a non faulty mcb is the way it should be done ( we all would prefer a consumer unit upgrade etc but thats life)
If its one you can not source, post here as others may be able to

No reg needed , it is just basic maintenance.

I may have one of ther push button MCbs you need do you have a picture or know what size you need to replace it?
