Just been thinking, my Lad does some maintenance for a Charity outfit, mainly Fire Alarm testing.
Now the Charity occupy a unit, 2 stories, adjoined to about 6 other similar units, but basically all one building, the unit in question has it's own F/A install, not linked to any of the other units, not being that familiar with F/A systems, begs the question should the units F/A be linked in any way?

Would need a fire risk assessment to ascertain and this is a legal requirement. There are lots of factors which would come in to play like compartmentation and the escape route network.

The units have their own exit and entrance, and by the looks of thing they all have separate F/A systems, just a general question really.

Impossible to say Pete without physically seeing the site but if they are separate units with suitable fire protection from the other units with escape routes which do not intersect with the other units maybe not.

So @westward10 that is no small achievement to be able to fire risk assess it requires a hell of a lot of knowledge to do it as I have been told and read. It is a complex rubric of various disciplines etc. from what I can see. The course I did in no way pretended to tackle that level of competency.
