Hi all I am trying to get some new LED's such as the Elite / Aurora E8's etc.. from local wholesalers to fit into a top floor apartment which has been constructed with each floor and on top floor ( the apartment ) in the metal deck and poured concrete slab into it system, supplier reckons that as it's top floor and steel/concrete construction that non fire rated such as the low profile lights would be o.k. but I'm thinking not as thought that it still needs fire rated at least 60-90 mins due to horizontal spread too through the plasterboard hole to other rooms / corridors ?

Anyone know more ?

May be best practice just go all fire rated and be sound !

Thanks

hi, pete. off to the slog in a min. job almost finished. CU replace today.

Best practice would be to install fire rated.

You can always quote 527.2.1 Where a wiring system penetrates the fabric of a building any fire protection offered by that fabric shall be reinstated. This is regardless or fire compartments or any other considerations.
