After a change of direction in 2000 I decided to get qualified as a sparks.. I got my CG 2360 pt 1&2 and 17th and from that point have been working as a mate for agencies at first, afterwards I worked as a sub to a couple of firms (with a fully qualified sparky or under a qualified superviser). My training basically ended at the point I left college (of course I now have a much more comprehensive knowledge having been carrying out 'Fully Qualified' work)... I want to get qualified but have no idea on how to progress .. AM2 appears to offer what I think I need - can anyone give some advice on how I should best proceed...

The JIB do a mature candidate thing where they assess you rather than you doing the NVQ3.
Don’t know how much it costs, or what you need to pass, but it would probably be cheaper than doing the NVQ3 through one of the trining companies?

I think the mature candidate route is delivered by training centres and still requires the AM2 passing as well.

The mature candidate scheme is an NVQ3 and you need the AM2 as well to cover some units. Its worth doing, ive got 2 remaining units and the AM2 to complete, taken me so far about 12 months and Ive not been at it full time either; its not so difficult once you get into the swing of it.
