Discuss going to try a 'pro' alarm install in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net

kit arrive today

premier elite 12
1x sounder
5x pir
1x DC (although I forgot to order!) is this just wired with 2cores and they go into zone 1 2x terminals?
1x rkp

wired it as attached- seemed ok and went to setup- but showing tamp on zones 2-8 as I didnt link them out and only wired zone1 with a 1x pir to test.

doing the setup on the rkp seems a nightmare- couldnt get past setting the device settings- is doing it with usb and wintex alot easier?

Depending on your door contact, you will either have resistors built in and need to set them to match the usual texecom * or * if it’s a dumb one you will have to add them in to the contact which can be a bit fiddly.

Either way ‘Engineer Utils > Zone status’ is your friend for live testing.

And yes, I’ve wired all of mine with FSL just using two wires.

purchased the usb lead and managed to pair with wintex on my laptop

is there a good pdf guide with all the terms defined- so I know exactly what I am setting each zone to??

for example quite a few zone type options: entry1, entry2, guard, guard active etc etc

cheers

Texecom for me. 4K7 resistor in parallel across alarm and 2K2 resistor in series for tamper. Say you use yellow and blue as your zone wiring.... In the PIR take yellow to 1st alarm terminal with one leg of the 4K7 resistor twist the other leg of the 4K7 resistor with one leg of the 2K2 resistor and terminate it in the other alarm terminal, other leg of the 2K2 resistor goes into one of the tamper terminals and blue connects to the other tamper terminal. Buy the USB com lead, register as an installer and download Wintex. It's an absolute doddle to set the panel up with Wintex and takes only a few minutes. For the bell box go for the texecom odyssey X3. If the wall hasn't been plastered yet where the RKP is then buy the recessed back box and install a flush keypad as looks better. I normally put a Ricochet expander in as standard and use the ricochet micro door contacts as looks 10 x better than the usuall bulky door contacts you normally see. They are tiny and you don't have to staple a cable to it.
