hi guys

right looking for some help, im metal fab companys and looking making lamps from chain and other similar ,materials. thing the i need help with is what testing do i need to do to conform to regs????
also the buld holders i have bought don't seem to have a earth connection? is this normal of have i bought the wrong ones???

thanks for any help

you'd need them CE certified. there's loads of different regulations. bloody minefield. time to get your company's pencil necks off their arses.

It must meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994. You would have to compile an EC Declaration of Conformity (DoC) along with technical documentation. If you are producing a unique or innovative item which may not fall in line with relevant British Standards you would have to satisfy its safety is no less than suggested in these Standards. After all this stick on a CE label. Simples.

thanks, been reading up on it and some people are suggesting that as long as the electrical parts have a ce mark on them thats fine? and as long at i use 3 core wire so i has and eath that fine? and get i pat tested that will bring it to within british standards?

PATesting it will not bring it into line with British Standards but I agree it maybe just the electrical components or equipment which are subject to conformity.

ive been looking at other companies that sell stuff a bit like mine and non of them mention and certificates or ce marking? its job to know what todo ive read the regs and i think my lamp ive made follows tthere guidlines

You can get them with or without the terminal. Depends if you require it or not. Class 1 will and class 2 will not.
