Hi folks,

Had a call out this afternoon to a domestic property fitted 18 months ago with a replacment c.u. and sub main to garage from dedicated breaker in the same c.u.
Db1 was wylex 6 way c.u.with 100 amp incomer, sub was 6mmt+e from main box on 32 amp rcbo, TT earetrhing and Ra was 17.8 ohms, Db1 had three breakers, two 16 amp and 1 6 amp, each 16 amp supplied a two gang socket outlet thats all.
One of the 16 amp breakers had melted a 2 inch hole in itself and the incomer !!
The only load on this socket was a 6 month old tumble dryer , the tennent is elderly and lives alone,
The guy who fitted the boxes has now moved away , so i have now changed all breakers to the new models.
Anybody come across one of these failed yet ???

Jem

definantly a worry, looked through my old mcbs using the batch codes someone on here gave me and found one that was included in the batch of dodgy ones.

Hi Morph..
There must be loads out there that have been stuck in by D.I.Y ERS,Domestic installers, plumbers, Kithen fitters, This had to be seen to be belived, and could have been a fire for sure as the garage had a wooden roof and db1 was two inches from it ..!

Check out forum search "recall " loads of info on dates ect Company I work for just sent out a reminder to us about this
