Hi Guys,

Just getting going in the electrical business and want some advice on pricing for a job I’m going to do.

Going to do the following:-

Fit spur off of ring. So chasing out wall channel and backing box.

Replacing 2 light switches for shinier ones.

Replacing 5 socket faceplates for shinier ones.

Ive paid £80 for all the materials.

Cheers in advance

J

How long do you think it will take you, including testing and completing the certificate? At first like me you’ll probably under estimate the labour costs and how long certain jobs will take you. But with time you’ll get better at pricing up jobs. As for materials I was told adding 10% was the norm.

So you've bought the materials but don't know how much too charge ..... Really?

Shiny switches? Did you check there was a cpc at the switch positions?
RCD protection in the ring? You are modifying a circuit there.

Buzz’s price seems about right, and agree with Fitzy- 10% mark up on materials. If customer buys materials, you just take longer to do the job to make up the shortfall
