According to the MI's, thermal overload protection is incorporated, and this is marked on the label on the OP's own unit (TOP). They also show the speed selector switch wired directly to the supply. About the only info they don't give is the wire colours. Presumably the switch is not supplied by EBM but by the hood makers.
