Henley Block between meter and main switch

Hi quick one if you come across the meter tails coming from the meter to a henley block then from henley block to main switch on consumer board, if you replaced that consumer board would you still need to remove main fuse or could you just disconnect from henley block and leave fuse intact? cheers thanks.

now i will tell you that the guy i work for has disconnected the tails at the henley block before...without pulling the bullit....but never under load (main switch open)......

Yes as I thought going to disconnect at Henly Block then no need to break seals on fuse, obviously main switch on old fuse board will be turned off so fuse will not be under load Cheers lads.

i would remove henly block and fit a 100A dp isolation point...!

(after the fuse fell out that is)

Just had EON fit an isolator after the meter on my system for free. Planning to upgrade my CU so very easy now.

Meter Plus (on behalf of NEDL) charge £75+ and very rarely answer phone so i just do it my self for £30 to customer

YES TOO RIGHT!!! all my CU changes are emergency replacements for customers with disabilitys who need power 24/7 !!!! ALL of them...!! they all get rang through at 8.30am and are all melting requiring emergency replacement. so safe isolation is needed and i cant wait till NEDL turn up

I was told by a DNO worker that if you pull the fuse and phone them afterwards stating that it was in a dangerous condition so you were obliged to make it safe, then they will simply replace the seal with no fuss.

I'd be willing to bet that this happens many times a day. It has done on several of my jobs

I have just booked with the supplier (British Gas) to fit an isolation switch 10 mins ago booked over phone £31.42. Two weeks lead time but if you plan ahead a little not bad.

Personally, I prefer to know that I am safe and ruddy bollards to anyone who would like to argue this fact. Tampering deserves the consequences but safe isolation is justified "In my very own opinion"

I ALWAYS reseal using the braided steel seals that anyone can purchase thus leaving the installation safe. I do not agree with those who pull to achieve safe isolation and not replace seals as this COULD lead to a fatality.

Now obviously I would not undertake such work in front of someone that works for the DNO but if they turned up whilst I was working than I would show them that I have adequate seals to make safe afterwards.
