Discuss Hob to socket distance - thoughts? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

That looks very close.. Well within the 300mm and not far up from the hob.
Whats the situation?

Do they use the socket while using the cooker?

A local NHBC inspector for new builds in my area will allow 300mm sockets away from sinks and drainers and 100mm minimum from a heat source (hob) be it gas or electric.
As Murdoch says there’s no minimum distance stated in bs 7671 only that accessories should be suitable for the environment and proximity
I’ve read various industry guidance which gives a distance of 100mm from a heat source ,will most likely satisfy bs 7671.
If this is a new install then I’d say that socket is too close for my liking and common sense/judgement must be used.

Distances from hobs will most likely fall into the realm of manufacturers instructions and what your local building inspector will allow.
As I said earlier the site I sometimes go on, the building inspector will allow a minimum of 100mm from the hob so I don’t think any pdf out there makes that much difference really.
