thanks all i think i have a definitive answer just teething on alarm systems so had to make sure as sometimes doing it by the book is a tad bit overzealous some times!!

Manufacturers instructions are guidance only and do not have to be followed, especially when they are wrong, as is the case here.

1. Although 2 amp fuses for plugs/fcus are available the only sizes officially recognised are 3 amp and 13 amp.
2. The fuse is to protect the cable which is 1mm not the appliance on the end of it which has its own internal protection.
3. What would happen in other countries where fcus are neither available nor compliant and circuits are protected by a 16 amp MCB?
