Discuss Hot Water cylinder and 2x immersion heaters in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Shermin - As a temporary but safe [and cheaper] fix you could just run the supply direct to the bottom element via a 20A DP switch and the timer you suggested and set it to tie in with the E7 times.

I'd ditch the FCU and use a 20a DP switch, you have adequate overcurrent and short circuit protection with the 16a MCB, the DP switch is more suited to the load than a 13a fuse constantly running at full current.

I will do that then. Will do installation, but will get someone to double check and re test it after I have done everything to make sure it's all good.

The only place nearby to me that will sell anything readily available is screwfix.

Will this be ok?

Why don't you stop messing around and stop and consider how the existing unit it wired and if it has failed .........................

and if it has failed...... what? As your title says "WE are NOT mind readers ............please include as much information in your posts as possible"

I ain't no mind reader, so could you please finish off what your suppose to be hinting at?

I suspect the timer was once in the airing cupboard and the fcu in the kitchen .sometime and someone has changed the positions this causing the fault .swap them back around connect up correctly and if no parts are faulty problem solved.
