Discuss house alarm in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net

You'll get arguments for and against each. I would always go for a hard wired system if possible, but sometimes either the customer does not want the limited upset or the property type better lends itself for wireless. As with all things you get what you pay for and we all have our favourite panel manufacturers. I use Scantronic for both wireless and hard wired - others will suggest different makes. Whatever you choose go for middle market which will provide value for money.
If opting for wireless, make sure a site survey is done first to ensure strong signals between receiver/transmitter and no local interference.

i swear byt risco group, gardtec 595 panel with hard wired bell and keypad, wireless detectors, battery life is > 2 years. kit including 6 detectors of your choice is £209 + vat. ( was last time i bought one ). only thing not included in the kit is cable. i generally fit one in an easy day.

and that's a good point. ensures you get repeat service visits.

Its also a pain in the hole when the phone rings at 3am, cause the batteries have gone flat in a wireless bell box!

I have and will fit both, however given the choice and the budget, hard wired for me every time!

For wirelessm the yale ones are good quality, and ADE/honeywell is a good value system for wired.

the system i use has hard wired bells. only the detectors are wireless ( the panel has the option of 8 hard wired zones also.)
