I've got a Living room measuring 10ft x 17.5ft I'm looking to put some 9w warm white downlights in which have a 60 degree beam angle. Was wondering if I should put 6 in or 8.

2 rows of 4, IMO. you decide if you want dimmable.

Depends what light output you require.

that's why i suggested dimmers. easy to reduce light. impossible to increase if not enough.

and i don't recommend 9w. every one i've ever fitted has blown within 3 months. i use, almost exclusively minisun 5w. not had a single one fail and the output is as good as any 9w that i've fitted.

What are you lot like? Did you not read the bit about 4.5 meter high ceilings? ;)

OP never said he lived in an old converted windmill, with the mezzanines removed....but he could:)

Top tip,for choosing down-lighting,let the missus go through all the catalogues, visit the showrooms, let her pick the fanciest, most expensive option...

...Then buy ONE - and mount it on a head torch, for her...

She's in the corner,now...reading...i can see her angry expression...
