Discuss How many socket outlats? in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Same as Murdoch, but what spec does the builder want? It is just a guideline, but with sockets you can never have too many, and this is one area where common sense should prevail. Lots in kitchens etc, and just enough in bedrooms and so on. On a rewire i provide all twin and 6 in living room (2 side by side where telly goes). 4 in dining room, 1 in hall, 1 on landing, 3 per bedroom, 4 in master bedroom, 1 outside, kitchen depends on requirements as does utility room and garage. any more than this is usually at the customer request.

Cheers for the replies...I'll check my regs when I get home from my holidays. Though as you quoted Howard, thats about the standard id put in and like you said from then on in its down to the client.

I assume that was written prior to 2005 so would have been to 16th edition. I didn't read the whole lot (life's too short) but it's obviously a few years old hence how they felt the need to mention VCR ownership.
