Hi

I have been trying to change an led gu10 bulb in a recessed spotlight in my hallway. On others there has been enough cable to hold the bulb and twist it to change, but this is too short, so I cant hold the connector still to twist the bulb.

I have tried pulled it with pliers, and also trying to twist it while using a screwdriver to hold the base in place with no success.

Any ideas? Will I need to take floorboard up above?

As you can see from the picture I have broken the plastic cover of the bulb trying to pull it.

Thanks in advance

Adam

A lamp removing tool (screwfix) would have helped before you broke it, but too late for that now.

You could try a rubber glove to get more purchase.

I have glued the plastic back on to the bulb, but it doesnt really help with the issue that I'm not able to hold the connection inside to stop the wire spinning around with the bulb.

Pull the whole fitting out of the ceiling. Mind your fingers on the springs.
yes - do exactly that - there should be the same amount of flex from the fitting to the bulb in all of your downlights so it is obviously caught on something. you will be able to fix this if you take it out of the ceiling

I’d just like to add something here.....

MAKE SURE THE CIRCUIT IS TURNED OFF!!

At the consumer unit, not just the room switch.
