Discuss How to learn quickly on the Job ? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I think the thing is when you are shown something you retain it. There is no way of learning faster than that. If you do not pay attention and do not show an interest then the chances of retention of the task method will not be effective.

Well done, cock.;)

Actually,it should be cock/hen. Which is cock, stroke hen...but we can't say that either.

I find that i am genuinely looking forward to the part of my life, where, like my great aunt Lily, you know there are only a handful of summers left, and you just do not care what others think of your immediate thought-to-speech process.

A time when you can be in a queue,in a Tesco in Warrington, and look the woman in front,up and down, and actually ask her ...."Why do you wear those leggings, when yours bottom is so big?..."

Terrible....yet so fondly remembered :)

Hi Nehpets
Always be punctual.

Learn as quickly as possible where things are kept in the van.

Keep the van as tidy as possible.

Always return things to their correct storage place in the van.

If you are in the wholesalers and the goods are being booked out, don't just stand there load them up into the van.

Never stand there with your hands in your pockets.

If you are at a loss at what to do tidy up the work area.

Do not use your phone for personal stuff during work time.

Don't smoke.

Don't smell of ale in the morning.

Get yourself a copy of the 18th edition and start learning, quote stuff to the person you are working with (but don't do it if it annoys them).

Ask questions.

Have a note book. Use the note book.

Start buying quality tools, not cheap crap. The person you work with might be able to help you with this and they will probably be able to claim the VAT back which will please them.

Be clean, don't turn up looking like a scarecrow, be polite.

Good luck.

Assist with list making of materials, if you get onto a job and realise there is only half a box of grommets left on the van then write it down and inform the person you are working with, basically be helpful, be an asset.

Never stand there with your hands in your pockets.

If you are at a loss at what to do tidy up the work area. In fact, learn to be tidy in everything you do.

Take pride in your work.

Don't cart mud everywhere on your boots.

Do not use your phone for personal stuff during work time.

Don't smoke.

Don't smell of ale in the morning.

Get yourself a copy of the 18th edition and start learning the regs.

Ask questions.

Have a note book. Use the note book.

Start buying quality tools, not cheap crap. The person you work with might be able to help you with this and they will probably be able to claim the VAT back which will please them.

Look after your tools and the tools of others you are working with.

Look after the drills etc.

Be clean, don't turn up looking like a scarecrow, be polite.

Be prepared to have the p!ss ripped out of you on occasions.

Even if you are miserable try not to show it. Try to put on a happy face daily, no one really wants to work with a grump. Tell the occasional funny joke.

Good luck.
