What she was saying is that by doing this instills normality for the child in having to give permission to access private areas. She was not saying that a baby should give actual permission. Just that it is a good habit to get into and the child will grow with these habits instilled in their mind.

Do you hear the about some other recent research, that babies actually only understand or react to the voices of other babies as opposed to adults etc. So whilst your asking permission of your baby, to carry out a normal parent hygiene thing, it hasn't a scooby what your saying. Until of course it understands you and is used to the process anyway and accepts it as normal behaviour
