Hi,
Anyone have any ideas on this one. Helping out a friend on a job ( not boiler related ) and had a look at their Boiler which hasn't been working since before Christmas. It displays an F3 fault--fan fault. The fan is running, and after a short time the fault code is displayed.
There are 3 other wires back from the fan ( pcb ) to the main PCB, is this a signal for fan running or is that from the pressure switch as normal?.
I'm not a Boiler engineer, an Electrician; so just looking for some likely causes.
The main PCB has been replaced.

Any thoughts?

Regards.

I'm not a boiler engineer but mine did this last year it's probably a sticking fan !!! I sprayed mine with wd40 and worked fine for a few hrs then did the same again

a friend who is a plumber did the same using a silicone spray of some sort and that sorted it for about 6 months eventually the fan needed replacing

try that for a temporary fix

From my knowledge of boilers the display never actually tells you 100 % whats wrong. Does the boiler try to ignite and how do you know fan is working / running dont think these boilers have pressure switches and its all done through the circuit board expensive mistake changing a fan that's not bust and remember if you do change it you must flue analyse boiler

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
The fan can be heard running, no attempt at ignition or anything , just the fan fault alarm.
I'm not going to be in the Boiler messing around, I'm not a registered gas man; just curios.
As you say I don't think this boiler has the set up via a pressure switch as some boilers do.

Regards.

that's no way to talk about your mother-in-law.
