If you were to go to an installation

If you were to go to an installation and think "I don't like the look of this old board, but I'll use a separate board via Henley Blocks' or similar, would you be OK just noting on the paperwork that the original installation is a bit ****e? I mean, you wouldn't then become responsible for that side of it would you, as long as you make your thoughts known on the certificate? Thanks in advance.

No, you are only responsible for the work you do, so aslong as the new board and circuits comply with BS7671 and registered with Part P, then just a note can be made on the EIC regarding the rest of the installation can be made. This is providing of course the earthing arrangements are suficient i.e main equipotential bonding to gas and water in 10mm as you are installing an additional distribution board and circuits.

Ta Sparkypaul11. It's more of a hypothetical question based on a chat I was having with a mate earlier, that's exactly as I thought it would be. That's the same for the 16mm earth too presumably.
