Please tell me about Luminaries and if they have/ pose certain issues when undergoing testing ..

Lots of conflicting info out there eg some units unsuitable for 500 v dc insulation test.. some have high earth leakage currents and need special labelling ....

I seek to be enlightened (Pardon the pun ) Daft question what is a table lamp ? does the type of bulb fitted have an effect on the test result.

In your opinion what is the best procedure to use when dealing with these items with reference to not doing any harm to the units ?

As above, soft test it (or if your machine doesn't support it, like mine, make do with a visual check. Hard tests on sensitive equipment just isn't worth it.).

Please tell me about Luminaries

luːmɪn(ə)ri

noun: luminary; plural noun: luminaries

1.
a person who inspires or influences others, especially one prominent in a particular sphere.

Blast, it's an old thread. I do like taking the P out of automatic spell correction though. This one particularly gets my goat.

It is called a luminaire because it consists of control gear and so is more than just a lamp.

and yes.

You should be 'PAT testing' it.
