Sorry if this is a simple question but i have been asked to install a light fitting in a chimney above a multi fuel stove. They have a stove with the flue pipe leaving the top, then it goes up through a register plate which blanks off the bottom of the chimney.

They have had a switched spur fitted ages ago ready but now need a light fitting fitted and wired in behind the lintel so that it lights the fireplace up.

Has anyone got any idea as to if this is possible? and if so any recommendations. Is it possible to insert some lights into to register plate etc or fix them onto the back of the lintel

matt, think logically, what is the purpose of the flue & the plate!!! You should install a fitting & cable suitable for the enviroment, ie, that will sustain the possible heat, mounted external / behind the lintel, or 2 of [ one each end].
There are several caged / glass bulheads or fluorescents that will fit this senario.Look under heat resistant fittings, regards piccoll
