I posted this on the Insurance Forum, so far no replies, so I thought I would try here where I normally visit.

Just a quick question,

I have recently taken early retirement ( Electrician for 40 Years ), and do the odd bit of work for friends and family. I have just helped out a friend at an old folks home, basically moving a spur and fan controller where a large stainless steel sink was being fitted ( if I didn't volunteer to do this you would of had to lean across the industrial sink to the controller, and basically that would of been it; at least I have made it safe ).
Anyway to get to the point although I am competent I got to thinking about Insurance. I am not employed, I am not working for myself etc, etc.
Do you no if it is possible for me to get some form of Insurance? I don't want to join any schemes because the amount of work I may do would not warrant it.

I should also add I will be probably be doing a re-wire for a family member shortly ( free gratis ) and no matter how competent you are nasty things can happen ( hopefully they never will ),

Your thoughts please,

Regards,

Clive.

If you ring one of the PLI insurers I'm sure they will be able to help. I think they may push you down the full PLI route. Having said that its not much more than £100 per year.

Thanks for the info, I have spoken to Simply Business and explained my circumstances and they are going to send me some quotes,

Regards.
