Was sent a EICR report the other day to quote the remedial work. Just thought I would share the highlights with you .
This is a school and all observations were code 1 or 2s
------------------------------------------------------------------

Lighting Circuits require further investigate for ethnic continuity

RCBO for shed must be hanged for amcb - RCD Confict

For all lighting circuits in all fuse boards DB1-DB5 if not RCD o RCBO protected.

All sockets circuits protected by MCB 32A in all fuse boards DB1 – DB5 if not RCD or RCBO
protected.

In this report “bath or shower” means special location such a toilet or other rooms where metal pipe
can be reach form power point.
For all hand dryers and water heaters located in the school.

All circuits supplied equipment in the toilets, boiler room connections, water heater if not protected
by RCD or RCBO.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The Report was done by a NAPIT Registered Company
I have advised the customer a site visit will be required to try and find out if anything was actually inspected properly o_O

I didn't realise RCBOs that feed sheds should now be hanged - no doubt this will cost us even more money if we have to buy MCB hanging kits. I tried my local CEF and they haven't even got them in yet.

Ethnic continuity is a new requirement in the 18th edition regs, which are being made more politically correct.

If they hang RCBO's, what do they do to RCD's ?

I know I'm gonna regret asking this, but what in the name of God is Ethnic continuity ?

Don't know about doing EICR's on schools, whoever wrote that needs to go back to school.

It's probably an auto-corrected 'earth continuity' but whoever did the report didn't know enough to spot the error.

I think It was more to do with the inpectors first language not being english , I have framed the quote about no ethnic continuity and put in on my notice board , it my favoutite observation ever , just wish there was a reg number for it . Its also bugs me the amount so called electricians think a toilet is a special location , and insist hand dryer have to be rcd protected:mad:

Whatever the reasoning behind the poor English, the information provided in the report is still a joke.

Yes exactly my thought too , Im not claiming to be the best a spelling and I myself have made the odd comical mistake but telling a customer that no rcd protection for circuits in a toilet is a code 1 is just plain incompetence

Not so much spelling as saying the wrong word , I used to do some work now and then for an old chap who was great but one day he left me to it saying he had to pop to the chemists to collect a 'description' for his Mrs, and another time when I'd 1st fixed his 2 storey extension said he'd get the itchy loft installation in. Best one though was the well to do customer who created a home cinema with a very fancy sound system and kept going on about the positioning of the 'large woofters' , I never corrected him because it was hilarious. :D
