hi all, ive recently started a business so trying to spend my pennies wisely, I can understand checkatrade from a legitimacy point of view but im interested in how much work you can expect to generate from them as an advertisement platform?

I heard they doubled their yearly prices lately after a change of ownership.

They used to hassle me all the time .... Not heard from them for a long time.

You need to advertise as a new business but I wouldn't be going with them unless they do a really good low price deal for you.

It works for some people, not for others.
If you get consistently 5 star ratings then you’ll eventually get far enough up the list to actually get some work from it. But be prepared to loose money on jobs as you end up doing extras for free just to ‘buy’ your good ratings from customers who know how to play the system

Avoid checkatrade like the plague... they might offer you a good 1st years rate then you have lead fees on top... then 2nd year will hammer you with eye watering price rises....

Expert Trades is a similar thing I think.

    It’s £80+vat annually or £8+vat a month.

They offered 80 something a month, £960 a year to get the draggs at the bottom of the list until I can work my way up, if I were to do it I’d make sure I was busy first so I can get the ratings in quick instead of sitting at the bottom of the list forking out monthly
