I've just received my JIB card. It arrived in just over a week, which was a lot quicker than I was expecting. I've been graded as an electrical labourer/ ancillary operative. This means, I think, that because of lack of education and experience, I can't be trusted to do almost anything without supervision, certainly not terminate.
I also hold a Gold JIB card issued by HERS grading me as a Highways Electrician, allowing me to install, test and certify electrical systems,(not just street lighting but all the electrical bits needed for Managed Motorways), on Highways, certifying me competent to pull live fuses in street equipment. I'm enrolled to do my NVQ3, and hold 17th and 2391, evidence of which I supplied with my application.
I wanted this card so I might change employer so I can gather evidence for my NVQ, which is nigh on impossible at the moment, being mostly workshop based, or if I do field work then I'm the "electrician" on the team (I can't witness my own work!)
Is it worth appealing the grading? At least with "Trainee" I'd get my C&G's endorsed on the back.
Any thoughts or advice very gratefully received.

why did you want two jib cards just add additional occupations too your existing card as you qualify

My concern was that if I left my present employer, I wouldn't be allowed to take my card with me, and also it's issued by the Highways Electrical Academy in conjunction with JIB, so wasn't sure if it would be accepted to get on sites.
If starting with the Brown stripe is how it is, so be it.
