I have been a qualified electrician for Quite a few years but have never really touched solar apart from installs on domestic properties.

I have been invited for an interview for a company that installs, commissions and maintains large commercial systems.

Can anyone point me in the right direction I’m looking for any information I can get on these larger systems.

Thank you for your time.

I mean google G59 and make sure you understand it. G59 is all about the embedded generation regulations. If you have a decent understanding of these you are half way there. I have solar, turbines and C.H.P. across my sites, they have to conform to G59.

Just be honest, tell them your experience and the fact you will pick up the solar work very quickly and there should not be an issue, there is nothing complecated about solar, believe me.

Always,always,point towards the sun.
This would appear obvious, but i could show you some domestic installs...

Always useful to know something about the company and the job role.

They will have a 'Person Description' with both essential attributes and desirable ones. You will need to evidence that somehow.

Most interviews seem to follow the same basic questions (equal opportunities). Typically, why would you be suitable for this role, what attracts you to this role etc. Are you able to work as part of a team, and on your own initiative. Interjected with some scenarios.

In some interviews, I've been expected to know about the company & role. But from recent experience, that doesn't seem to be the case these days.

Have some questions ready at the end of the interiew, not how much will I be paid, you should have already researchd that, Career prospects, advancement within the Company, what will my prospects be should I be successful ?etc, thanke the panel for their time, and a good firm handshake, sounds daft, believe me it isn't some things never change, good manners . go a long way to securing employment. Been there done that on both sides of the coin. Trust me it works.

I agree 100% with @Pete999 and have been on both sides of interviews. I'm not ashamed to say that I've rejected someone because the handshake was like grasping a limp lettuce leaf.... *EWWWWWW*!

The thing that really gets me is when people can't seem to talk properly...

You get me init!

Well no actually, I don't get you.

It's sick man init!

If it's sick, maybe see a doctor or if it's your pet, a vet.

And the old classic... you know? blah blah blah you know?

Well no actually, I don't know that's why I was asking a question!
