Discuss Just found out Ive passed my AM2 exam! Any ideas what to do next? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Well done Ryan! Six months into my first year as an apprentice myself. Maybe try and get a job with a larger company? One that does some commercial, as well as domestic?

Good luck with your apprenticeship mate! Any questions about the am2 exam drop me message! I
Am considering going into more commerical with some domestic nice to get a chance of industry/ workplaces etc. Anyone know any companies?

Not sure what to advise as I always worked on industrial or larger site builds, domestics where meh and a piece of ---- in that day and age.

Times have changed though so maybe the hardened sparks on here can advise.

The one thing I remember is when I finished my apprenticeship I was let go then got a job at Matthew Hall, was the norm to let the apprentices go at that time.

So would I be able to apply for a larger company and gain experience in that sector? Where abouts do you work? As in what company?

I do fancy working in commerical and larger sites as I want a change from house bashing. Want to learn alot more and stuff.

I take it you work up and down the country? My boss is offering to keep me on but, I might stay for another year just to get additional experience behind my self then change industry etc...

It is not easy up here now Ryan as you probably know . All the big heavy industries are all but gone now.
I would agree with @Strima , don't be too hasty leaving a good job until
you test the water.
Check the local pay rates and do your homework .

Well done and good luck in your career.

How did you pass first time around if you had to resit one part of it?
