What happened then?an accident happened in the kitchen lastnight, so i signed up to see if i can get some advice on what to do.
It's Council house, I take it?my mum left some chicken to boil on the cooker amd forgot to check it. Eventually there was enough steam to cause a short and some condensation got behind a plug and onto the wires causing abkind of electrical burn and some slight smoke. I took the plug off the wall and dried the wires with a hair drier and the smoke/burning stopped. Is it safe to put back on the wall or should i call the local council to help ?
Was waiting for a reply from poster, but you nailed it one sentence Tel.i would call in a local electrician to check that it's safe for use. unless it's council house, so then call them.
How do you know what I was going to say if he had come back with an answer? The OP has already put the socket back on the wall, and it works so no longer needs to come back to answer lol

Right but fiddling with the electrics in a Council dwelling, as with most other things may be a breaking of the tenancy agreement, just saying. The thing you unscrewed from the wall is a socket not a plug. A plug is what's on the end of the lead.
Whether it is a council house or not you should call a local electricians. The council is not responsible for fixing your accidents.
With the smoke. I smell a rat.
No rats here mate.
