They are useful for a small number of items, but they are not very robust, I have found several Kewtech adaptors have lost continuity on the connections, which is annoying since they are not moving the connections. The soldered connections have come off inside the unit. I still use one though but do very little PAT testing. I have just done my largest and it is taking me ages to write up.
If you have a lot to test then a dedicated tester would be best, but if it is just for your own kit then this is a compromise solution without too much cost and no opportunity for a high current test of the earth.

It is primarily for extension leads, iec leads and the odd amp, to be honed none have ever been tested over and above a regular visual test. For £30 I may give it a try and see how it goes.

I take it for the high current test I would need a mains pat tester such as the Keetech KT71 or similar.

I have both the Kewtech PAT adaptor and the KT71. The adaptor just links L & N, for an easy connection to your MFT. OK for occasional use. I chose the KT71 because it would do the high current earth continuity test at a reasonable price. I seem to remember that I only found one battery powered tester that would do this, but more expensive, and I decided that most places where I would be doing appliance testing would have a mains socket available.
