Kitchen Halogen lights to LED

Hi, I currently have 13 (yes 13!) kitchen halogen downlights that I want to convert to LED's. They are the 12v halogen pin type connected to AC 240V transformer (60VA). Is it possible to convert these to to something like Philips 8W MR16 LED? Im not sure if the transformer I currently have is compatible?

from mr16 halogens to lEDs you will need a driver for them.
or change to GU10 leds .if you can alter the cables in the kitchen.

I would remove the transformers and go for GU10's

13 x 8W lamps will be VERY bright.

I have 19 x 5W LED GU10s in my kitchen. It is bright!

5w would be better giving you 65 watts or go with Murdoch
104 watts. warm white .

Tell me about it. I do want to reduce the number one day but it's hardly at the top of my to do list. I preferred it when they had 20W halogens in them, was much more subdued.

I have only 6 led's in the ceiling.in my kitchen and I think I have plenty of light.plus under cabinet lighting .

Thanks everyone. We did change the halogen lights in the bathroom to GU10s via electrician. Cost a fortune and that was for 6, I can only imagine how much 13 is going to cost. Was hoping for an easier/ cheaper option.

So you are suggesting your labour charge would be £80

I'm guessing the OP is only thinking about the cost of the LED lamps -and not allowing for the other parts required which do add up.

yep. £80 labour, half a day at most. used to be a lot faster but slowed down a bit now. 71 year old legs and back getting the better of me.
